Creator Talks with Yamaya Mason

We love to highlight creators of all following sizes, but particularly Nano (5-15k) and Micro (15-100k) creators who are thriving. Our chat this week with Clout Jam user and pro-content creator Yamaya Mason was the perfect reminder that you can make a living off your content at any stage, following and level as long as you are creating quality content and aligning with the right brands.

Yamaya keeps it reel with her audience through her lifestyle, beauty, fashion and wellness content. She's all about quality over quantity which is clear across all of her content, winning creator awards and pumping out some of the most binge worthy reel content on the gram.

With just over 7k followers on instagram, Yamaya is not only an up and coming creator to watch, she's also a role model to many in the industry, helping to lead reel challenge groups, advise nano creators and inspire female entrepreneurs daily.

We had the pleasure of chatting with her about some of her "how to's" when picking brand collabs, career tips and what keeps her motivated day to day. Here are some of her tips and points on the creator world today.

Who are some of your role models?

My mom is a major role model of mine because she has taught me so much and I love how our relationship is growing and changing now that I am an adult. I am very blessed to be able to communicate and be open with my mother.

What is your favourite social growth hack of the moment?

Personally,  I am more so focused on the long-term/ longevity of my brand.

How do you decide which brands and partners to work with?

There are a few steps that I take to decide which brands and partners to work :

1. I ask myself a few questions such as, "Is this a brand that I am currently using?" (If not) "Is this a brand that I need in my daily lifestyle?"

2. I research to see what the brand's mission is, it's representation, and more.

These are just the beginning steps I take when replying to a brand that may want to partner with me.

What keeps you motivated on a day to day?

To be honest, I have a lot of self-motivation which truly does help me keep going on a day to day. Also, I am very thankful to have amazing friends in which we genuinely do support each other and want to see each other win!

What’s the number one career tip you would give to anyone today starting their business online?

Quality over Quantity!
